About the Film
On November 19, 1989, Trinidad and Tobago’s men’s national football team, affectionately known as the “Strike Squad,” stood one point away from history. A draw against the United States would send the nation to its first-ever FIFA World Cup.
More than three decades later, the members of the legendary Strike Squad revisit the dreams, the sacrifices, and the intense emotions surrounding one of the most significant moments in U.S. and Caribbean football history. Through intimate interviews, rare archival footage, and the voices of the men who lived it, Strike Squad: One Goal From Glory explores what happens when an entire nation places its hopes on eleven players — and the extraordinary psychological pressure of a single day.

Meet the Filmmakers
Tarek Statico is a Trinidadian-born filmmaker and the founder of Statico Films. His work focuses on character-driven stories, history, and the human experience.
Cinematographer with a passion for truth and texture. Oliver brings decades of visual storytelling experience to the world of documentary film.
The original score is composed by John Joseph Wiater, a film composer with more than fifteen credits spanning drama, documentary, and narrative cinema.
An independent post-production company known for its color grading and digital workflows for award-winning filmmakers worldwide. Its recent credits include All That Breathes, winner of the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at Sundance.
